Al Arabi Club clinched another volleyball title of the season when they came back from one set down to win the Super Cup with a 22-25 25-16 25-23 25-23 victory against Al Rayyan Club in Doha on Friday.
The Super Cup has been launched by the Qatar Volleyball Association between the winners of the League and the Emir Cup of the past season.
The one-match event began with Al Rayyan showing great attack and defence in taking the opening set. But Al Arabi, who earlier won the QVA Cup, staged a gallant comeback and reeled off the next three sets in a row to complete the victory.
QVA President Khalid Ali al Mawlawi was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Besides the trophy, he gave away the cash prize of QR100,00 to the winners and QR20,000 to the losing side.
Meanwhile, The 46th edition of the Qatar league starts on Sunday!
A record 24-times league champions Arabi, who won the QVA (Federation) Cup last week defeating two-time defending champions El Jaish (3-2), start as favourties against their rivals.
On the other hand, Rayyan are eyeing for their ninth league crown.
